Snaring Crimson Swifts
Travel to Yanille and go to Aleck's Hunter Emporium located west of the magic guild or the Nardah Hunter Shop located across from the bank. Speak to Aleck in Yanille or Artimeus in Nardah to buy a bird snare.
Travel to the Feldip Jungle, then head east to the coast. Look for an area where there are many Crimson Swifts circling. Crimson Swifts can be recognized by their bright red plumage.
Set up your bird snare, then back several steps away from it. Wait until a Crimson Swift lands on your snare.
Pick up the Crimson Swift's drop (i.e., bones, red feathers and raw bird meat) and reset your bird snare. Walk away and wait to catch another Crimson Swift. Continue catching the birds and resetting the snare until you have caught nine Crimson Swifts to gain enough experience to increase your Hunter skill to level 4.
Tracking Kebbits
Travel to Yanille and go to Aleck's Hunter Emporium or the Nardah Hunter Shop. Speak to Aleck in Yanille or Artimeus in Nardah to buy a noose wand.
Travel to either the Trollweiss or Rellekka Hunter Areas. Look around until you find a polar kebbit burrow, which looks like a hummock in the snowy ground with a large hole on one side. Inspect the burrow; you should see a trail of kebbit paw prints, which are the small animal tracks leading away from the hole. The tracks have a pad and four toes, and show up clearly against the snow. There will be no other tracks around to confuse kebbit tracks with.
Follow the trail of paw prints. If you lose the trail, search nearby cover such as bushes, snowdrifts or logs. Keep following the trail and searching until you receive a message in the chat window saying that you suspect there is an animal there. You may see a hole smaller than the kebbit's burrow in the area where you were searching. If you don't see a hole, don't worry; the kebbit is hiding under the cover you just searched. Use the noose wand on the hole or the cover where where you were searching when the message appeared. Alternatively, attack the hole or cover wielding the noose wand as a weapon. Either action should trap the kebbit with your noose wand. If you attack the wrong piece of cover, you may end up with old boots instead of a kebbit. If this happens, search again until you see the message telling you an animal is there.
Pick up the polar kebbit's drop (i.e., bones, polar kebbit fur and raw beast meat). Look for another polar kebbit burrow and track the kebbit. Track and capture 10 polar kebbits to increase your character's Hunter skill to level 4.
