Newly created penguins on "Club Penguin" don't have many customization options and are a fairly homogenous bunch. The primary way that users can differentiate their avatar from others is by dressing in clothing that is awarded after completing missions, given to players attending special events, and bought from catalogs while visiting shops. Wearing clothing from shops is considered by some to be a status symbol, since only those with member accounts can buy from catalogs.

  Sign in to your "Club Penguin" account.

  Press the map icon on your screen. Clicking a location on the map teleports your penguin there automatically.

  Select "Ski Village" on the map to travel there, then enter the Sport Shop.

  Click the blue catalog that appears on your screen in the Sport Shop and search for the "Blue Racing Bathing Suit" or "Racing Swimsuit."

  Highlight the item and press "Buy" to add it to your inventory. Only member accounts with at least 500 credits can purchase items from a catalog.
