Dying and Gravestones
When you die in "RuneScape," your character is taken to limbo, where you can choose a respawn point: the location where you want your character to reappear. What happens to your items depends on where you are when you die; but you will normally drop all but three of your items, leaving them behind when you go to limbo and respawn in the living world. Your dropped items will be temporarily protected by a gravestone.
Types of Gravestones
The most basic type of gravestone is a simple wooden marker with your character's name on it. this only lasts for five minutes before disintegrating, exposing your items to anyone who wants to grab them. By completing certain quests such as The Restless Ghost and the The Giant Dwarf quest, you gain the option to buy more expensive and longer-lasting gravestones. The most luxurious is the Royal Dwarven Gravestone, which lasts for 15 minutes. If you get to your gravestone before the timer runs out, you can destroy it and retrieve your items.
Recharging Gravestones
If the character who has died belongs to a friend of yours, you can keep his gravestone from disappearing by recharging it. If you have a sufficiently high Prayer skill, you can Bless the gravestone to keep it active for up to an hour after the character's death. This requires a Prayer level of 70 or more, however. Another option is to repair the stone, resetting the timer. This only requires a Prayer skill level of two.
Where to Repair the Gravestone
You can only repair a gravestone by visiting it. You need to travel to the location where the friendly character was killed and interact directly with his gravestone. Click on the gravestone and select "Repair" from the list of options in order to fix up the stone for a while longer. If your friend's character dies again, a new gravestone will be created and the existing one will disappear, regardless of how recently you repaired it.
