Tips on Robo Defense for Android

"Robo Defense" is a tower defense game for Android phones. The free version offers one map with 11 difficulty levels, and the full version offers five maps, unlimited upgrades and extra difficulty levels. The object of the game is to prevent robot enemies from reaching your base by placing defensive towers in strategic locations. Increase your advantage each round by spending the rewards you earn destroying enemies on upgrading or buying new towers.
  1. Maximize the Controls

    • Learn the basic items and controls to be able to drag selected items quickly to where you want them on the map. New tower selections are located on the bottom right of the screen and become available as you have the cash to buy them. Tap on existing towers to access a menu of potential upgrades, including dimly lit options that light up and become accessible as you earn the necessary rewards.

Press the "Pause" icon in the lower-left corner to take a break from the game or to study the map for a fresh perspective on your next move. Return to your game by tapping the "Pause/Play" option again, or exit and save your place to resume your game at a later time.

    Know the Enemy

    • "Robo Defense" uses a wide variety of land-based and air-based enemies. Early rounds in the game typically use slow-moving attackers; however, throughout the game you will face tougher and faster attackers. The game will generate these to come out in a random order, beginning first with weaker troops to give you time to build a defense.

Land attackers can pay between $1 and $10, and the slowest robots are often the toughest. Air attacks tend to become more difficult to beat after round 40, and you will need to create a row of "Surface to Air Missile" towers when jets appear. Anti-air cannons work well against the B52 Bomber and the Dropper.

    Create a Maze

    • Identify where the enemy will enter your territory to attack your base, such as the left side of the screen in the free version of the game. Air forces will fly in a direct line between these two points, and land attackers will always take the most direct route available on land around whatever objects you place in their path. Begin to build a maze of towers up and down that sends land troops along the longest route possible; however, maintain a row of rocket or missile towers near the center that will fire at helicopters, jets and other air vehicles.

Place your first towers on either side of the hole the land attackers come out of. Experiment with creating a path that directs them toward an alternate route where they are constantly being hit. Upgrade your towers after you build a basic maze. Start first with the rocket towers in the middle that are in a great position to attack land and air enemies multiple times.

    Vary the Towers

    • Build your maze structure using a mixture of towers that attack the enemy in multiple ways, such as a Machine Gun Tower, a Rocket Tower and a Slow Tower. Repeat this pattern to establish a maze that will help you advance quickly. Place Slow Towers on corners to get the most out of the other offensive towers that will attack the robots. Create Inferno Towers for the end of maze rows to maximize their range of fire.
