All Emo Games

The EmoGame series of online computer games were released between 2002 and 2004. They were programmed by Jason Oda and featured gameplay reminiscent of early 1990s side-scrolling beat-̵6;em-ups as well as stylized pixelated graphics. While the four games in the series are very different, they all share certain similarities: a wry style of humor, references to pop culture and adult content that is not suitable for the under-18s.
  1. EmoGame 1

    • The original EmoGame was released in 2002. Players can take control of seven emo musicians including Mineral̵7;s Chris Simpson and Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes. The plot of the game sees emo band The Get Up Kids being kidnapped and forced into sexual slavery by Aerosmith. To rescue The Get Up Kids, players must cross a number of levels, including a high school and a branch of fashion retail chain Hot Topic, while avoiding enemies such as yuppies and members of the Dave Matthews Band.

    EmoGame 1.5

    • ̶0;EmoGame 1.5: Alkaline Trio vs. Hell̶1; is a mini-episode of the EmoGame series released in 2003 as both a trailer for the then-upcoming ̶0;EmoGame 2̶1; and the Alkaline Trio album ̶0;Good Mourning.̶1; The game sees players take control of the three members of Alkaline Trio, who have been killed in a car accident while on their way to sleep with the actress Rose McGowan. In order to return to earth, God sets them the challenge of conquering hell and defeating the ultimate evil, Skeletor. Alkaline Trio members throw flaming hearts as their preliminary attack, and receive help from the cast of GI Joe as the game progresses.

    EmoGame 2

    • ̶0;EmoGame 2: The Epic Quest Continues̶1; was released in late 2003. Players can choose from one of five main emo musicians to control, including Thursday̵7;s Geoff Rickly and Brett Detar of the Juliana Theory, as well as 15 other emo stars who became available during the game. The main plot of the game sees the cast of the sitcom ̶0;Friends̶1; forming a band in order to brainwash the youth of America. In order to stop this, the emo musicians have to break into the MTV Music Awards and kill every celebrity they can find, including Sum 41 and Ryan Seacrest.

    EmoGame 2.5

    • ̶0;EmoGame 2.5: The Anti-Bush Game̶1; was released in 2004 and, as of 2011, is the final release in the ̶0;EmoGame̶1; series. It is also the only game in the series not to be hosted directly on the EmoGame website, and the only game where the playable characters are not emo musicians. Instead, players control either Hulk Hogan, Mr. T or He-Man in an effort to bring down the first Bush administration. Players won the game by collecting a series of keys in order to form into the Transformer Voltron, thus removing George W. Bush from power. As of September 2011, the website for ̶0;EmoGame 2.5: The Anti-Bush Game̶1; was down.
