Find the Slayer Masters on your mini-map. Each is marked with a skull symbol. Each Slayer Master has a pool of different monsters that he draws assignments from.
Talk to the Slayer Master in Burthorpe, as he assigns lower-level monsters. Ask for an assignment to begin training the Slayer skill. You are also given an enchanted gem you can use to contact Slayer Masters.
Acquire any special equipment that you need to kill your assigned monsters; for example, you need earmuffs to fight banshees and protection against fire to fight dragons. Stock up on the best-quality food you can so that you don't have to drop everything to get more food while you are on a Slayer assignment.
Visit an area where your assigned monsters spawn. Fight the monsters. If you forget what monster you are supposed to kill or are having trouble killing the target monster, contact a Slayer Master for guidance in using the enchanted gem.
Kill the correct number of target monsters. You will only get Slayer experience for killing the kind of monster assigned to you. However, you may be able to substitute a weaker version -- baby dragons instead of adult dragons, for instance -- that are easier to kill, although they give you less Slayer experience. If you share a monster with another player, half the experience will go to the player who did more damage and half to the player who struck the final blow
Take the highest-level assignments that you can handle. Higher-level monsters give you more Slayer experience.
Use the Summoning skill to call familiars. They can speed up the process of slaying monsters, improving your Slayer skill more quickly.
Complete the Back to my Roots quest to gain the ability to grow Jade vines. Grow jade vines in an East Ardougne Farming patch, allowing them to become wild. Kill each vine for 2500 Slayer points. You do not need to be assigned the vine to get the points.
Play the Fist of Guthix minigame. Obtain the Dragon Gloves and wear these while on your Slayer assignments; they will give you extra Slayer experience. You need Slayer level 70 to wear the gloves.
