Weapons
In "MapleStory," you can obtain a variety of weapons, from simple swords and daggers to projectile weapons like crossbows and guns. Weapons are either one-handed or two-handed; the latter tend to inflict more damage on enemies, but they require higher levels and skill stats to use. Your character will always have a weapon equipped, and you can change weapons by pressing the "E" key to open your equipment inventory and then selecting the weapon you want to use.
Armor
Armor is useful for boosting your character's stats as well as defending against physical attacks. Most armor raises your character's Defense stat, but others can raise Luck, Speed or even Attack. You can equip several pieces of armor at once for different parts of the body; helmets, boots, gloves and trousers are all available in addition to body armor. Some clothing can be worn only by certain classes, and heavier, stronger armor can be worn only by high-level players. You equip armor from your equipment inventory in the same way as weapons.
Accessories
In addition to weapons and armor, your character can also equip various accessories that boost his stats and provide him with special abilities. There are many medals to collect in the game for completing various quests or jobs, and each one has different attributes, such as boosting your character's attack strength or health points. You can equip only one medal at a time, and you do so through the equipment inventory in the same manner as weapons and armor. Other accessories include belts, glasses and earrings.
Useables
Useables are consumable items that are used up as soon as they are equipped. They include food, medicines and potions, which you use to recover health points and magic points, cure ailments such as poisoning and boost your character's stats. To use a consumable such as a potion, select it from your inventory and press the "I" key. The effects will be immediately transferred to your character, and the item will disappear from your inventory.
