Description
Vulnerability is a spell in the standard spellbook. It reduces the target's Defense stat by 10 percent and acts as a stronger version of the Curse spell. The effects of this spell do not add to, or ̶0;stack̶1; with, other Defense-reducing spells or skills, including Curse, Leech Defense or other players' uses of Vulnerability. Once any effect drains a target's Defense, you can't drain Defense again for that target. The Vulnerability spell can be used in concert with other stat-reducing spells, such as Stun or Enfeeble.
Cost
̶0;RuneScape̶1; players cast spells using runes, special stones that enable magic. As a relatively high-level spell, Vulnerability requires several ordinary runes, as well as one special one. You need five Water runes, five Earth runes and one Soul rune, which you can only get from the Magic Guild Store, other players and some special monsters. Special items, such as the Water Staff or Mud Staff, can automatically provide the Water or Earth runes you need for this spell, reducing its casting cost.
Requirements
Only subscription members of ̶0;RuneScape̶1; gain access to the Vulnerability spell, since it uses the Soul rune. This rune is the highest-level rune in the game and cannot be crafted using a normal Runecrafting altar. You can't learn this spell until you reach Level 66 and have acquired at least 76 base experience. The Vulnerability spell appears in the normal spellbook and the Dungeoneering spellbook.
Considerations
Vulnerability is a relatively expensive spell, due to its reliance on noncraftable runes. The less effective Curse spell requires only two Water runes and three Earth runes, plus a Body rune. This special nonelemental rune is the highest-level rune that free-to-play characters can produce. Curse provides an alternative to Vulnerability for free-to-play characters and a cheaper option for subscription members who don't wish to expend large numbers of Soul runes.
