Minimum Operating System
In order to run "The Burning Crusade," a player's computer needs to be running at least Windows XP, 64-bit XP, Vista, 64-bit Vista or 7. The latest Service Packs and updates for their specific operating system are also a must for minimal game performance.
Recommended Operating System
Blizzard recommends that "The Burning Crusade" players be running at least the 64-bit version of Windows Vista, or Windows 7 for optimal game performance.
Minimum Hardware
"The Burning Crusade" requires at the very least a computer equipped with a 1.3 Intel Pentium 4 or and AMD Athlon XP 1500 or higher microprocessor. At least 1GB of RAM is also required, as well as 25GB of hard drive space, an NVIDIA GeForce FX or ATI Radeon 9500 or better video card and a DVD-ROM drive capable of running at 4X speed. A keyboard and mouse are also required, as they are the primary input method for "World of Warcraft" and all expansions.
Recommended Hardware
Blizzard recommends a dual-core processor like the Intel Pentium D or the AMD Athlon 64 X2 for optimal game performance. At least 2GB of RAM memory and a 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600 or ATI Radeon HD 2600 or better video card is also recommended. While a keyboard is still required, optimal performance can be obtained by using a multibutton mouse with a scroll wheel instead of a standard mouse.
Internet
A broadband Internet connection is required to play "World of Warcraft" and "The Burning Crusade." A dial-up connection is insufficient for handling the large size of updates and patches, and the large quantities of data transmitted during game-play. Satellite and wireless Internet are also not recommended, although the game can be played using an in-home wireless network as long as the primary Internet connection is broadband.
Previous Versions
In order to play "The Burning Crusade," players are required to purchase and install "World of Warcraft." This original version of the game, colloquially called "Vanilla," contains the framework for the game's architecture and information. "The Burning Crusade" merely features additional content and changes to existing data made when it was released.
