Can You Resurrect Yourself at Any Cemetery in World of Warcraft?

Death in "World of Warcraft" is not a permanent state. After you die, your spirit is transported to the nearest graveyard; from there, you can either run back to the location where you died to resurrect at that location or speak with that graveyard's Spirit Healer to resurrect at the graveyard. Although you can resurrect using any graveyard's Spirit Healer, which graveyard you will find yourself at after resurrecting changes depending on the circumstances.
  1. Resurrecting at the Closest Graveyard

    • If you speak with the Spirit Healer at the graveyard where your spirit appeared after you died, you will be resurrected at that graveyard. Doing this when your character is above level 10 causes you to be afflicted by resurrection sickness, lowering all your statistics and the damage you deal for a specific period of time. However, it can be a convenient way of getting to safety if your corpse is surrounded by too many enemies to safely resurrect, since there are no enemies in or near graveyards.

    Resurrecting at a Different Graveyard

    • As a spirit, you can travel to anywhere you can travel to while alive, although you are limited to running around on foot rather than using ground or flying mounts. As a result, you can travel from the graveyard closest to where you died to any other graveyard and use that graveyard's Spirit Healer to resurrect. Once you do so, however, the game will teleport you to the graveyard you started out from rather than leave you at the graveyard where you resurrected.

    "Return to Graveyard"

    • The "Return to Graveyard" button was introduced to allow players who become lost or stuck while attempting to run back to their corpse to return to the nearest graveyard. This gives them another chance to either return to their corpse or resurrect using the Spirit Healer. However, you can also use this button to allow you to resurrect at a different graveyard from the one closest to where you died and remain there rather than get teleported back. Run to the graveyard where you would like to resurrect and, once there, click the "Return to Graveyard" button. Doing so will set that graveyard as your "home" graveyard, no matter how far away it is from where your corpse is located.

    Uses

    • Deliberately dying and resurrecting at a different graveyard can be an efficient way of getting a very low-level character to a high-level zone. For example, you could run a level one character to a city with a neutral auction house, such as Booty Bay, Everlook or Winterspring, in order to be able to check what items are available for sale without having to spend time traveling there on the character you usually play. However, this is the only practical use of resurrecting at a different graveyard, since in most cases you would want to resurrect close to where you died so that you can get back to playing as soon as possible.
