The Best Area to Mine Copper in WoW

Copper is the first type of ore "World of Warcraft" players who choose the mining profession can gather. Because of this, the zones where copper is most plentiful are those where players head immediately upon finishing the starting area for each race. Which zone is the best to mine copper depends on your current location, as well as on whether you have a flying mount available.
  1. Darkshore

    • Darkshore, an Alliance-held zone found in the north of the Kalimdor continent, is the zone with the highest amount of copper veins in the game. If you have access to a flying mount, traveling in loops around this zone is the most efficient way of gathering copper ore. Additionally, if your character is above level 80, this zone is quite easy to reach, since you can take the Mount Hyjal portal from either Stormwind or Orgrimmar, then fly straight to it. If you only have access to a ground mount or are still traveling around on foot, however, this zone's geography will slow you down considerably.

    Durotar

    • Durotar, a Horde-held zone in the north of the Kalimdor continent, has the second-highest amount of copper veins in the game and is very easy to reach for Horde players, who only need to ride or fly out of Orgrimmar. Copper veins in this zone are fairly clustered and can be easily accessed even on a ground mount, although some of them are located in caves, requiring you to dismount and proceed on foot. The ideal mining loop in this zone runs from north to south. If you are on a ground mount or on foot, you should avoid the Southfury Watershed and Thunder Ridge, while if you are on a flying mount, you can easily cover the entire zone.

    Elwynn Forest

    • Elwynn Forest, an Alliance-held zone in the south of the Eastern Kingdoms continent, has a fair amount of copper veins. Their position is fairly clustered and allows you to travel in loops around the zone, although several of the veins are located in caves, which need to be navigated on foot. The zone's geography is simple, without many impassable obstacles, making this an easy zone to navigate even if you are on foot or on a ground mount. This zone is very easy to reach for Alliance players, who only need to fly or ride out of Stormwind.

    Tirisfal Glades

    • Tirisfal Glades is a relatively flat Horde-held zone in the north of the Eastern Kingdoms continent. Copper veins are somewhat plentiful and well-clustered. If you are on a flying mount, you can travel in a loop that spans the whole zone, while if you are on foot or on a ground mount, you can limit yourself to a smaller loop either in the east or west portion of the zone.
