Hunters, Warriors and Rogues
Hunters are the only class able to use guns and crossbows as an effective method of doing damage. They are weak in group combat, but can tame wild beasts to help them out. The hunter's marksmanship and survival talents make him good at completing game levels on his own. Warriors are experts at close combat and can withstand fierce attacks. The warrior is the most versatile class when it comes to issuing threats and protecting other characters. A warrior functions on "rage," but this decreases if he is not involved in combat, and he is very dependent on his armor and weapons. A rogue specializes in close combat and uses stealth to incapacitate the enemy. His other abilities include lock-picking and handling poisons. A rogue can knock out an enemy for a longer period of time than other classes, which gives him a big advantage.
Druids and Paladins
Druids and paladins are both hybrid classes, meaning they can fulfill more than one role. For example, a druid can have healing powers but can also damage opponents. A druid has the ability to shape-shift from humanoid form into a bear or cat, and his versatility is a key advantage. He can also heal his allies and use the power of nature to inflict damage. The paladin is a holy warrior who is duty-bound to protect the weak and hunt out evil. The paladin wears strong armor and has a heavy sword and shield that he uses for protection and attack. He also has strong healing abilities and can radiate light to strengthen friends.
Priests and Shamans
Priests serve the people. A priest is a master healer who can keep other classes alive. He can cause damage to enemies using "shadow magic," which is a ranged weapon, meaning it can be used from a distance. The priest can also use magical words to create a protective shield that helps others, and he can control the mind of any character. A shaman is the spiritual leader of a tribe. His task is to keep the elemental forces of earth, fire, air and water in balance. He uses elements, such as ice and fire, as weapons, for close combat but can use a lightning strike or earthquake for ranged combat. Importantly, a shaman can choose from a range of totems to protect allies, and each totem has a unique effect.
Mage, Warlock and Death Knight
A mage uses extremely powerful magic that is revealed only to disciplined and devoted practitioners. Mages use ranged magic to destroy enemies at a distance and can cast spells at high speed. A mage can attack multiple enemies at the same time and can use a number of powers to control a battlefield, including freezing the combatants. He can also teleport between locations. A warlock commands demonic power and has access to increasingly demonic characters as the game progresses. The warlock uses curses to stop enemies, and he can also drain an enemy's health for his own use. The death knight is the only hero class character in the game as of the date of publication. A player's character must have reached level 55 before he can create death knight. The death knight has similar hybrid abilities to the paladin, and he uses dark rune magic to attack enemies.
