How Do I Set Up a World of Warcraft Vent?

Click the Windows "Start" button, and select "All Programs." Click "Ventrilo," then click "Ventrilo Client" to open the software.

Click the arrow button next to the "Username" text box. A window opens where you configure the username that displays in the Ventrilo channel, so other players can identify you. Click "New" and type a username in the text box. Click "OK" to save the settings.

Click the arrow button next to the "Server" text box. A window opens where you configure the server name for the connection. Click "New." Type the server's host name or IP address. Type the server's port number. Both of these settings are supplied by the WoW guild's Ventrilo admin. Click "OK" to save the settings.

Connect your microphone or headset to the computer's audio card. The connection is typically at the back of the computer. You can still run Ventrilo without a microphone, but you can only listen and not speak to other players.

Click the "Connect" button to connect to the Vent server. If a password is required, enter it into the text box popup. A list of channels display in the window. To join a channel, double click the channel name to join.
