Connecting Your Computer to the TV
Modern computer hardware supports both HDMI and RGB connections, while flat panel LCD and plasma televisions provide HDMI and RGB inputs. For a high-definition gaming experience, connect your computer to your television using a 28AWG high-speed HDMI cable. The television will automatically detect 720p or 1080p, and make the proper display adjustments. If your computer does not support HDMI, then use a standard PC or RGB cable and connect it to the television's PC input. Either of these connection types are recommended for playing "World of Warcraft." However, for true high-definition gaming an HDMI connection must be used.
Sound Output
Connect your computer's audio out, which is typically a single audio output jack labeled "Audio Out" or "Headphone," to the "Audio In" of the corresponding HDMI or PC input on your television. This allows you to experience the game's music and effects through your television's speakers. If you have external speakers, then center the television between them to take advantage of the "World of Warcraft" surround sound features. If your external speakers are connected to a receiver, then connect your computer's "Audio Out" to the proper audio input on the receiver and experience the game in a theater-like environment.
Computer Display Properties
Right click on your desktop and select "Properties" from the context menu. Click on the "Settings" tab. If your television did not auto-detect the proper settings, you will need to select the proper output resolution. Ensure that you select a widescreen format, such as 1920x1200, 1920x1280, 1680x1050 or 1280x800. These options will vary, depending on the resolutions supported by your graphics card. Experiment with your display settings until your desktop fills the entire television screen, does not appear squashed or stretched, and looks correct from the distance at which you plan to play "World of Warcraft." These settings are user preferences, but you will want the images and text to display correctly on the television before launching your game.
Game Resolution Settings
Launch "World of Warcraft" and select "Options" on the right of the log-in screen. On the graphics selection screen, switch Display Mode to "Windowed" and from the drop down menu next to Resolution select one of the widescreen setting that matches, or is closest to, your display properties. If you television is larger than 26 inches, and you are playing at a distance, then choose a resolution that enhances the text and interface size, such as 1280x800. Press "Apply." The settings change will cause the screen to flicker, after which "World of Warcraft" will be fully functional for play on your television.
