How to Move the Tooltips in World of Warcraft

In Blizzard Entertainment's "World of Warcraft," a player can learn basic information about certain elements in his environment by hovering the mouse cursor over the item or creature in question. This will bring up a "tooltip" box displaying the element's name and other data. For some players, the default location for the tooltip box may prove inconvenient; fortunately, through the use of a special "add-on" program, users can change the tooltip box's location as desired.

Instructions

  Download a copy of "TipTac" from "wow.curse.com," "wowinterface.com" or any other website that carries the most recent version of the addon. Browse the contents of your file system and open the folder that contains the "World of Warcraft" application. Open the "Interface" folder and then copy the "TipTac" folder over to the folder labeled "AddOns." Launch the "World of Warcraft" application and log into your account.

  Click on the button labeled "AddOns" located in the lower left corner of the character selection screen. Check all of the boxes that begin with "TipTac." If an "Out of Date" message appears, check the "Load Out of Date AddOns" option near the upper right corner of the "AddOns" window. Click "Okay" and then select a character and click on "Enter World."

  Press the "Enter" key to bring up the command box. Type "/tip" into the box without the quotation marks. Press the "Enter" key again to bring up the "TipTac Options" window.

  Review the options displayed on the left side of the "TipTac Options" window. Select the option labeled "General." Check the box labeled "Enable TipTac Unit Tip Appearance." Review the other displayed options and make any desired changes.

  Select the option labeled "Anchors" from the left side of the "TipTac Options" window. Select "Normal Anchor" from each of the "Type" menus.

  Click on the button labeled "Anchor" located along the bottom edge of the "TipTac Options" window. Locate the "TipTacAnchor" title bar that will now appear on your screen. Click on the title bar and drag it to wherever you wish your tooltips to appear in the future. Experiment with the "Point" options in the "TipTac Options" window until you are satisfied with the appearance of the tooltips.

  Click on the title bar's "x" button to close it. Click on the "Close" button located in the bottom-right corner of the "TipTac Options" window. Move your cursor over a nearby entity to test the new anchor point for your tooltips.
