Look at the hole mini-map on the screen to determine distance to the pin. The mini-map is to the side and above the view of the golf course. The red number near the top is the distance in yardage necessary to reach the pin. The small flag at the top indicates whether the hole is higher or lower than where the player currently stands (blue for higher, red for lower, yellow for even).
Select a club capable of hitting the distance necessary. At the beginning of a hole longer than par 3, no club will hit far enough, so select the club that can hit the farthest. Clubs are selected by scrolling the mouse wheel and looking at the club displayed in the lower-left of the screen. The maximum distance of the club will appear in the bar that extends from the club picture in the lower-left of the screen.
Tap the spacebar to start the backswing. As the backswing happens, a blue bar extends through the club distance bar at the bottom of the screen. The goal is to hit the space bar again when the blue bar hits the appropriate distance.
Tap the spacebar a second time to set the distance and begin the downstroke. A white line will move back toward the beginning of the bar to where a pink area sits. The goal is to hit the space bar again when the white line is inside the pink area.
Tap the spacebar a third time when the white line is exactly lined up with the white line in the center of the pink area. This is a "pangya" and will result in a perfect hit. Getting inside the pink area but not on the line results in a decent but imperfect shot. Getting outside the pink area altogether results in a bad shot.
