Pineapple Vs. Papaya Trees in RuneScape

You can grow fruit trees in RuneScape's game world using the Farming skill. You can eat fruit from the trees, trade the fruit, or use it to make other items. Fruit trees include the Pineapple plant and Papaya tree. Fruit from both trees have different uses. You can earn significantly more money from papayas than from pineapples.
  1. Planting Fruit Trees

    • Fill an empty plant pot with dirt by using the pot on any garden patch while you have a gardening trowel in your inventory. Use a single fruit tree seed on the pot to plant it. Water the pot with a watering can to produce a seedling. Once the seedling has grown into a sapling, transfer it from the pot to a fruit tree patch where it will grow into a tree. You'll need a spade in your inventory to do this, and the patch must be clear of weeds. You can add compost or supercompost before planting.

    Caring for Fruit Trees

    • After you've planted it in a patch your fruit tree can become diseased, reducing its yield and even killing it if you don't remove the disease using secateurs. Pay a farmer to watch your fruit tree so that it doesn't become diseased. The cost depends on the type of tree. Check the tree's health to gain Farming skill points. Growing a fruit tree may result in a net loss of money at first but if you keep harvesting the fruit you can make a profit.

    Pineapples

    • You can pay a farmer 10 watermelons to mind your Pineapple tree. Once the Pineapple tree matures it will produce up to six pineapples at a time. When they are ripe you can harvest them; new pineapples will slowly grow back until all six are replaced. Cut up pineapples for food using a knife. Each pineapple will yield four pineapple rings or one set of pineapple chunks, which you can eat straight away or use to make pineapple pizza. Pineapples are also used in some drinks, for example the pineapple punch. You can use pineapples as an ingredient in supercompost, which improves crop yields. Pineapples typically fetch around 90 coins on the Grand Exchange.

    Papaya Tree

    • You can pay a farmer 10 pineapples to watch over your papaya tree. Once it matures it will produce up to six papayas at a time, slowly replacing any that you pick. Avoid eating papayas as they are valuable; a single papaya can fetch upwards of 1,000 coins. The Pawya, a small burrowing creature, can only be caught with a papaya as bait. Papaya is one of the ingredients in a Recover special potion which restores 25 percent of a player's Special attack bar.
