Quirks and Secrets of World of Warcraft

A lot of information about "World of Warcraft" is common knowledge, but there are some tricks, secrets and quirks that are not as widely known. By using the right item, pressing a specific combination of keys or heading to the correct location, you can turn into different races or creatures, make your flying mount perform acrobatics, force players around you to start dancing or witness small fuzzy animals taking up arms against each other.
  1. Flying Acrobatics

    • Hold down the "Ins" or "Del" key while moving on a flying mount to begin flying in a vertical loop. if you let go of the key while your character is upside down, you will keep flying upside down in a straight line, in the direction opposite to that where your camera is pointing. When you stop moving, your character will appear to right himself, only to resume his upside-down position when you start moving again.

    Mount Animations

    • Pressing the "Space" key while on a land mount will cause the mount to perform a special animation specific to that particular type of mount. For example, horses will rear up and whinny, while saber cats will stretch their head upwards and roar. Pressing the "Space" key while on a flying mount will cause the mount to fly up; however, you can still get the mount to perform its special animation by typing the "/mountspecial" command into your chat box.

    Illusions and Disguises

    • Several items in "World of Warcraft" allow you to temporarily change the way your character looks. For example, using the Orb of the Sin'dorei trinket turns your character into a blood elf, while the Time-Lost Figurine trinket turns your character into an arakkoa. Eating a Savory Deviate Delight randomly changes you into a ninja or a pirate, while drinking a Noggenfogger Elixir has a chance to shrink you or turn you into a skeleton. If your character is a herbalist, consuming a Lifegiving Seed temporarily turns you into a random herb and change your character's name to "Peacebloom."

    Quirky Item Effects

    • Certain items can have special effects on yourself or others. Using the Piccolo of the Flaming Fire trinket causes players around you to break into dance, while placing a Toy Train Set on the ground makes every player who is nearby erupt into a loud "choo choo" noise. The Cannonball Runner trinket summons a cannon that fires at your enemies, while using the Moonwell Phial trinket creates a splashing water animation under your character. Drinking Pygmy Oil makes you shrink, while drinking Deepstone Oil freezes you in place.

    Hidden Locations

    • Explore each zone in World of Warcraft thoroughly to locate hidden areas. For example, faerie dragons occasionally congregate around a mushroom ring in the Whispering Forest, a hidden area in western Tirisfal Glades, and begin to sing, while forest animals gather around to watch. In the north of Mulgore, above Stonetalon Pass, you will find critters such as squirrels, mice and rabbits; unlike normal critters, however, the critters found above Stonetalon Pass will occasionally don weapons and armor and start fighting each other.
