Chromatic Dragons: Green
Chromatic dragons have hides of various colors: green, red, blue and black. You will encounter both adult and baby chromatic dragons; baby dragons are the easiest to kill, dropping baby dragon bones. Green dragons are the weakest -- a baby Black dragon is more challenging than an adult Green dragon. If you engage one in Melee combat you will need an anti-dragon shield as it can attack with Dragonbreath. If you can kill the dragon with ranged attacks or magic, you can survive without the shield. Adult Green dragons always drop green dragonhide and dragon bones, which can be crafted into items or sold.
Chromatic Dragons: Blue
Blue dragons are stronger than Green dragons. They can attack with Dragonbreath. If you can kill the dragon with ranged attacks or magic, you can survive without the shield. When killed, adult Blue dragons drop dragon bones and blue dragonhide.
Chromatic Dragons: Red
Red dragons are stronger than Blue but weaker than Black. Like other Chromatic dragons, they have dragonbreath as an attack. Adults always drop Red dragonhide and dragon bones.
Chromatic Dragons: Black
Black dragons are the strongest of the Chromatic dragons. They have the dragonbreath attack and always drop black dragonhide and dragon bones. Black dragons may also drop the Draconic Visage, a rare item with many special powers. The chance of this drop is very slight, however.
Special Chromatic Dragons
Elvarg is a Green dragon that players can encounter as part of a quest. She is stronger than a standard Green dragon but weaker than other chromatic dragons. The Brutal Green Dragon is much stronger than a standard Green, with a magic attack and a combat level nearly three times as high. The King Black Dragon is even stronger than standard black dragons; it was once the strongest monster in the game, although this is no longer the case.
Some dragons are not hostile and act as non-player characters (NPCs). K'Klik is a Blue dragon, the last of the fairy dragons. Mr. Mordaut is a Red dragon who gives players surprise exams. Players can also have baby chromatic dragons as pets.
Metal Dragons
Metal dragons have metallic hides and are the strongest dragons in "RuneScape." They drop metal bars on death. Bronze is the lowest level metal dragon, followed by Iron and then Steel. The highest is the Mithril dragon. All except the Bronze dragon may drop the Draconic Visage. All but the Mithril dragon may drop dragon platelegs or dragon plateskirts.
Revenant Dragon
Revenant dragons are classified as ghosts rather than true dragons. For this reason, they can't use the dragonbreath attack. They have Ranged and Magic attacks as well as melee and can poison opponents. Revenant dragons have a change of dropping valuable ancient items.
Skeletal Wyvern
Skeleton Wyverns are not true dragons and do not have the fiery dragonbreath attack, but they do have freezing and ranged attacks. They may drop Granite Legs and the rare Draconic Visage when killed.
Frost Dragon
Frost dragons are very powerful and dangerous. They are only encountered in the highest level Resource dungeon in the game. As well as melee and Dragonbreath attacks, Frost dragons also have a magical attack. When killed, they always drop Frost dragon bones, which as of 2011 fetch a very high price.
