Instructions
Create a setting and theme for the text game. The theme can be as realistic or as fantasy-based as you want. It can be set in a specific fandom, an alternate universe, a celebrity-based setting or a fictional yet realistic world you made up.
Write rules for the game. How many players will there be? Will the players interact via instant messages, blog posts, social networking profiles or another means? What abilities and skills do they have, and where are they limited? Also set a rule on how often users should update their blog or social networking profile.
Create characters for the text game. You can use characters from a fandom, famous people or make up your own characters and write short biographies for each one. You can also simply set guidelines for users to write their own character.
Build the website for the text game. Most text games are done using online forums or social networking sites. These allow the user to make a profile for their character, as if it is a real person, and create blog posts from the character's point of view, in addition to interacting with characters via instant messenger. Popular websites include LiveJournal, InsaneJournal, Twitter and MySpace.
Send the link to the website to your friends, family and people you role play with. Also send the link to popular role playing websites so they can advertise it.
