How to Move Up in Leatherworking

Leatherworking is a primary trade skill in the World of Warcraft game. Once you have chosen leatherworking as your trade skill, you will need to increase points and skill levels so that you can move up in the profession. Leatherworkers produce armor and accessories for other characters, particularly rogues and druids. As you are setting up your character, select skinning as your secondary skill to save money on material for leatherworking.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the abilities page and select the leatherworking icon. Here you will find all of the leatherworking patterns that come with the apprentice character. The number next to the pattern indicates how many pieces of this pattern you can make given the leather in your store. Select the item you want to make and then indicate the quantity. Make items of the highest skill level possible. The skill levels will be coded by colors from lowest to highest as gray, green, yellow, orange and red. Making more complicated patterns will increase your skill level.

    • 2

Obtain at least 50 skill points in leatherworking by making objects to reach level 10. Once you have reached level 10, you can apprentice as a journeyman and move up a skill level in leatherworking.

    • 3

Approach the guard in the town where you are located and ask him where the leatherworking expert is located. Follow his directions to go to the leatherworking expert to begin your apprenticeship. Once this is complete you will be on the level of a journeyman.

    • 4

Open your abilities page and select the leatherworking icon. You will now see additional patterns available for you to make of a higher difficulty color. Observe the materials list and determine what you need to obtain to make the most difficult patterns.

    • 5

Collect skins or trade with other skillsman to obtain the materials necessary to make the patterns. For instance, some leatherwork requires the use of iron for which you must trade with a blacksmith. Once you have obtained all the materials, make high-level patterns to advance your skill points to 125 and your level to 20.

    • 6

Travel to the leatherworking expert in the towns of Telonis in Darnassus or Una in Thunder Bluff and apprentice to become an expert.

    • 7

Repeat the process of collecting skins and creating new patterns until you have 200 points and you are at level 35, then travel to Drakk Stonehand in Aerie Peak or Hahrana Ironhide in Camp Mojache, Feralas, to apprentice to become a leatherworking artisan.
