How to Make a Shirt on Stardoll

On "Stardoll," users can become fashion designers and literally design and create virtual fabric and clothing for a paper doll to wear. Once you make the clothing, you can then sell it or add it to your MeDoll avatar's closets. Clothing is designed using the StarDesign Fashion Design studio tool -- an area of the site that looks like a design studio and has fabric and clothing work spaces as well as a print design area where you can add a designed image to finished pieces. To make a shirt, you simply need to make the fabric for it and select a shirt pattern.

Instructions

  1. Make Fabric

    • 1

Click the "My Page" tab, click "Design &Sell" beneath the tab and then click "Fashion Design" to open the "Stardoll" Fashion Design studio. Click the "Start!" page shown in the notebook next to the sewing machine to open the fabric design workspace.

    • 2

Select a type of fabric -- jeans, knitted, silk or cotton -- at the top of the fabric sample on the right side of the workspace to change the sample to the fabric type you want to use to make the shirt. Select a color for your fabric by clicking one of the color samples on the left side of the workspace.

    • 3

Look at the two rows of fabric pattern options at the top of the screen. Select a pattern and then click and drag it to the center of the workspace. The fabric sample will update with the pattern.

    • 4

Modify the pattern as desired with the pattern shaping and editing tools. Clicking the tools to the right of the center area changes the shape and repetition of the pattern. Clicking the wheels at the bottom and then dragging the needle along the ruler changes the size, rotation and transparency of the pattern, based on which wheel you click.

    Make a Shirt

    • 5

Click "Choose" after you've designed the fabric to go to open the clothing design workspace.

    • 6

Look through the pattern book by clicking the numbers or arrows at the bottom of the book. When you find a shirt pattern you like, click and drag it to the fabric. Position it above the pattern as desired and then lift your finger from the screen or release the button on your mouse to drop the pattern onto the fabric.

    • 7

Click "Sew" to make the shirt. Your new shirt will appear on a dressmaker mannequin in the Fashion Design studio.

    • 8

Add a print image to the shirt if desired. Click and drag the shirt to the print area -- the shelf on the left side of the screen -- to open the print workspace. Look through the images and then click and drag one you like to the shirt. Click the "Print" button to add it to the shirt and then click the "StarDesign" button to go back to the Fashion Design studio.
