Worms Armageddon Lag Issues

Lag, the usual characteristics of which are choppy game play and a high ping, can make an otherwise enjoyable game difficult, if not impossible, to play. Lag can be caused by any number of issues, including the game itself. In a two-dimensional game like Worms Armageddon, however, the demands on the computer's video processing hardware is negligible, and the problem is likely to lie with your computer or your network.
  1. Your Computer

    • One of the possible problems that could cause lag in the game Worms Armageddon is your computer. Other software running on your computer may be competing with Worms Armageddon for valuable computer or network resources. File sharing programs, for instance, can take large chunks of memory and processing power to run, and can also monopolize an Internet connection, which can create lag in computer games.

    Your Roommates

    • Another possible source of lag in games such as Worms Armageddon is other people who use your Internet connection, such as family and roommates. Just like software on your computer can take up network resources, software running on other people's computers can also take up network resources, which will make it more difficult for Worms Armageddon to communicate with the server at an efficient enough speed.

    Your ISP

    • Problems with your Internet service provider (ISP) can also cause poor connection speeds, which will in turn lead to lag in Worms Armageddon. Though video games tend not to take up much network bandwidth, a poorly designed network or frequent outages in service can cause significant problems for video game players. Most ISPs offer better service packages, which may improve lag, and there are always other ISPs to consider as well.

    Your Server

    • The server you are connected to may also cause lag problems for you when playing Worms Armageddon. For a video game to run smoothly, ping to the server, which is the time it takes for a packet to get from your computer to the server and back to your computer, should not be more than a few hundred milliseconds. Servers located farther away, such as on the opposite coast, will require the data between you and the server to travel significantly farther, which will increase your ping time and cause lag.
