Levels
Levels show player progress through the game. Each player receives a tract of land with five plots planted with potatoes and one plot unplanted. The first level involves the basic activities of plowing the field, planting seeds and harvesting crops. Higher levels have more options -- players can send gifts to neighbors, extra land is unlocked and purchases can be made in the virtual store.
Experience Points
Experience points gain levels. Players earn experience points from performing tasks on the farm. These tasks include plowing fields and plowing neighbors' fields, sowing seeds, maintaining neighbors' farms, purchasing items in the store and producing goods in factories. Each of these activities earns the player different experience points. For example, plowing a field earns 1 experience point and sowing seed earns 2 experience points.
Neighbors
Since players are initially limited to six plots, helping their neighbors offers a way of earning more experience points. Players can invite their friends to play Farmtown and exchange gifts of crops, animals, coins and experience points. A simple visit to a neighbor's farm earns 6 experience points, and performing work on their farm earns more.
Levels and Experience Points
Players start at Level 1 with zero experience points. Twenty experience points changes the player's status to Level 2 -- Just Moved In. Level 3 - Learning the Ropes requires another 30 experience points. Each level increase requires increasing amounts of experience points, from 50 additional points to achieve Level 4, to 1,000 plus additional experience points for higher levels. Level 235 -- Market Megastar requires 5,057,000 experience points. Once a player reaches the highest level, he can continue to play at the highest level.
