How to Make Your Own DPS

Read about all the DPS classes for your game. DPS classes use weapons and spells for long and short range. Long range damage allows for surprise attacks and safe distance away from targets.

Find talent builds for your DPS class on your game's website. Pay attention to phrases like "ability power" or "critical chance," which affect how your damage increases on a target.

Purchase weapons and armor that add to your ability points. When looking at talent builds and spells for DPS class, find the characteristics that add a characteristic for higher damage. Your class' gear must add to these points. For example, a weapon for your class might boost ability power or critical strike. A piece of armor might have additional attack power or intellect.

Inspect gear while in-game from other DPS classes. Look at gear, enchants, weapons and other enhancements. Look up the name of gear to see if the piece belongs to a set.

Collect a large amount of in-game currency by completing quests, battles and dungeons. Quests also provide gear, and monsters in dungeons drop various pieces of armor and weapons in addition to currency. With more money, purchase better gear and enchants.

Practice your abilities on game mobs or bots before battling other players or higher elite monsters. Master a combination of attacks to achieve higher damage. Usually you want to hit first with a high damage ability even if it has a longer casting time, then hit with short cast spells that do damage over time. Spam the high damage ability as much as possible to drain the health of your target.
