Ensure that your character is of the appropriate level to reach 460 enchanting. If your character is not a blood elf, he needs to be at least level 75, and you need to have the "Cataclysm" expansion installed to level enchanting beyond 450. If your character is a blood elf, he only needs to be level 65 or above, and may reach an enchanting skill of 460 without the "Cataclysm" expansion due to the "Arcane Affinity" racial trait providing a bonus to enchanting.
Decide whether you will gather the required materials yourself or purchase them through the auction house. Gathering the materials yourself will cost you time, while purchasing them through the auction house is faster but may cost you a large amount of gold.
Open your enchanting window and examine the recipes available to you. Recipes colored orange always grant you a skill point, while yellow recipes only occasionally do so; green recipes only grant a skill point in extremely rare cases, and gray recipes never do so.
Determine which of the orange recipes is the most efficient way to obtain skill points. Consider factors such as availability, cost of materials and resale potential.
Craft the chosen recipe repeatedly until it turns yellow.
Visit the nearest enchanting trainer to learn any newly available recipes.
Repeat the process until you reach a skill of 460.
