How to Work a GBA Emulator

A Game Boy Advance emulator allows you to play a range of Game Boy Advance games on your computer. You can download the emulator and games you wish to play for free, from a number of different sites. However, to legally play a Game Boy Advance game on an emulator, you must own the physical copy of the GBA as well as copies of the games you wish to play on the emulator. Using a GBA emulator is fairly straightforward, and this process will work for most GBA emulators.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the emulator file that you have downloaded from a website.

    • 2

Double-click on the emulator application file with your left-mouse button. This will load the emulator.

    • 3

Click on the "File" button, and select "Load." Some emulators may say "Insert Cartridge" instead of "Load."

    • 4

Select the GBA game file you would like to play on your computer, and click the "Open" button.

    • 5

Select "Options" then "Joypad." On some emulators, you will have to choose a preset configuration numbered one to four. Select one of the presets. This will display the controls from the emulator using the keys on your keyboard. Familiarize yourself with the button configuration. Use these buttons to play the game.
