How to Maximize DPS as a Warlock in Cataclysm

Warlocks are a caster class in the online game "World of Warcraft." They have a wide variety of damage dealing spells and talents. In the third expansion of the game, "Cataclysm," warlocks received many changes regarding how to maximize DPS, or Damage Per Second. In order to maximize DPS in "Cataclysm" warlocks must properly specialize their talents, equip the optimal glyphs and use the correct spell rotation.

Instructions

  Load "World of Warcraft: Cataclysm" and sign in to your account. Log in to the game with a level 85 Warlock character.

  Ask a guard in any of your faction's major cities to find a warlock trainer. Right click on the trainer to speak the him and request a refund of your talent points. Place talent points into the Affliction tree. Skip this step if your warlock is already specialized into Affliction.

  Purchase the Glyph of Corruption, Glyph of Haunt, Glyph of Unstable Affliction, Glyph of Soul Swap, Glyph of Life Tap and Glyph of Shadow Bolt. Glyphs can be purchased on the Auction House by typing in the name of the glyph and clicking search. Alternatively, you can have another player who has the Inscription profession make the glyphs for you. Replace old glyphs with the newly purchased glyphs.

  Socket your gem slots and enchant your gear with Intellect boosting items. More intellect gives a Warlock more spell power, which increases DPS. Have about a 17 percent hit rating so that your spells never miss.

  Apply Curse of Elements to your target, followed by Haunt, Bane of Doom, Corruption and Unstable Affliction. Cast Shadow Bolt with every Nightfall proc and use Drain Life to keep Corruption on the target.

  Cast Drain Soul as the target drops below 25 percent health.
