Train in the thieving skill until you get it to level 5. Find one of the generic men milling around the Lumbridge Castle, right-click on him and choose "Pickpocket." Continue pickpocketing several nonplayer characters until you get a message that you have reached Level 5 in thieving.
Ensure that you have a tinderbox and a log in your inventory and then travel to the small house north of the furnace house in Lumbridge. It is just west of the river and northwest of the bridge. Find the trap door on the north side of the house and click on it. Choose "Open," then click on it again and choose "Go inside."
Find Darren Lightfinder in the room. Right-click him and choose "Talk to Darren." Ask Darren what he is doing and agree to help him by completing a quest.
Follow Darren's instructions to pickpocket a dummy and then talk to him again. He will tell you to find Chief Thief Robin by the Lumbridge Castle.
Exit the cellar, go to the south side of the outside of the Lumbridge Castle and find Chief Thief Robin. Talk to him and he will give you instructions to find a priest in the Lumbridge Swamp.
Walk south along the path outside of Lumbridge and into the Lumbridge Swamp, continuing south until you find a house near the river. Go inside and try to pickpocket the priest. You will see a message telling you that the priest is too alert and you need to distract him.
Go outside and light your log on fire underneath his window. Go back inside the house and talk to him, choosing the "Fire! Fire!" option. When he is distracted, pickpocket him and retrieve a key. Use the key to open the case next to his bed and steal the golden chalice.
Travel back to the cellar and give the golden chalice to Darren. He will give you a reward and unlock the door to the Thieves' Guild, giving you access to enter and use its facilities.
