Access Cheat Console
In order to access the cheat console you must run the American Civil War: Gettysburg application and open either a new or saved game. Once your game is loaded, type "iamacheater" and press "Enter." Doing so accesses a cheat console that you can use to enter further cheat commands. Next, type in "catdebug" and press "Enter" to enter game debugging mode.
Catedit
You can the debugging console to edit the settings and contents of your Gettysburg gaming world. Open the console and enter Debugging mode. Then type "catedit" in the console and press "Enter" to open Game Edit mode. Once in Game Edit mode you can use the game editing menu to add, delete or change the contents of your army or your opponent's army.
Bedit
Are your cannons perched at the bottom of a steep hill? "Bedit" is a command that allows you to edit the terrain on your game's map for your benefit. To access Terrain Editing mode, open the console and enter Debugging mode, then type "bedit" and press "Enter." Doing so opens Terrain Editing mode. You can use this mode to change the altitude of terrain or to change the terrain's contents, such as trees or water.
Movie Capture Mode
If you want to record the results of your battle for posterity, you can do so by accessing the game's Movie Capture mode. Open the cheat console and enter Debugging mode. Type "moviecapture" in the box and press "Enter" to enter Movie Capture mode. You can use this mode to start recording and to save video of the on-screen battle to a video file on your computer.
