Setting Up Mods and Hacks
Before entering any mods and hacks, you must set up the game to allow them. Go to "Properties" in the game folder and then look at the field labeled "Target." At the end of the existing text, type " -console -devmode." Once you have done this, save your progress and then close the game's file. Go back to your desktop and run the game as normal. Any time you are playing, press "~" to enter a cheat code. These steps will not work if you are playing with others online.
Items and Abilities
Type "cheat_medusa 1" to kill immediately any computer-controlled opponent that sees you during a level. Enter "cheat_deathless_player 1" to become invincible during any level in the game. Once you type "cheat_bump_possession 1," you take over the body of anyone that your character runs into. Enter "cheat_all_vehicles" to get all of the cars and military vehicles in the game or "cheat_all_weapons" to use every weapon. Enter "cheat_super_jump 1" so you can jump higher or "cheat_bottomless_clip 1" to get unlimited ammunition. The ammunition code also will save you time, as it eliminates the need to reload your weapon.
Views
You also can change the views for your character in the PC version of "Halo." Once cheats and hacks are enabled, enter "camera_control 0" to use first person point of view, which is standard. Enter "cheat_teleport_to_camera" to make your character go to any position in the game your camera is aimed toward. By entering "debug_camera_save," you save the exact location your camera is pointed at. After doing this, you can enter "debug_camera_load" at any time to revert back to the saved camera location. The same location will be saved until you save a new one.
Gameplay Tricks
If you are sent off a high ledge or cliff while driving a vehicle, you can prevent damage. Begin turning the vehicle either direction as you fall off. Keep turning it in circles and you will pad your fall and prevent your character's death when he lands. You also can cut down your reload time by starting your reload, switching to another gun quickly, and then switching immediately back. This actually takes less time than waiting for the full visual depiction of the weapon reload.
