Infinite Gold
You will encounter many rooms full of gold when in the Forgotten Tower on the fifth level of the dungeon. To advance in the story you need to defeat the Countess; do this, then take every piece of gold from every room. Save the game, quit and then load up the save file; all the gold will have returned for you to collect. Keep quitting the game and reloading it for an endless supply.
Everlasting Portal
At the point of the game where you have to create the portal to Cow King, do not kill him. It may be what you are meant to do, but it is not vital to the game and the benefits of letting him live are far greater. Instead of being a one-off method of transport as intended, this portal will stay forever.
Unlimited Experience
Go into the Wilderness to see a shaman and creature. Your first reaction will be to kill the shaman as he is a much bigger threat than the creature, which is more easy disposed. Eliminate the creature instead and the shaman will resurrect it; keep killing it and it will continuously be brought back to life. This may not sound good, but since you get experience points for each death, it is actually an unlimited supply of experience for your character.

Open the save file for your character in a hex editor. This is the file that ends in ".d2s" in the "Diablo 2" directory. Save the file under a different name to make a backup copy you can go back to in case of problems. Select line 231, box 5. Overwriting any numbers already there, enter "58" in the first box, followed by "1B," "00" and "00" in the subsequent boxes. Repeat this pattern until you arrive at box 3 of line 253. Save the file. When you play the game, your character will have 7,000 for all skills, such as mana and strength.
