Game Modes
Two separate modes of play are available in Tradewinds 2: Free Trade and Story mode. Story mode can be used as an introduction to the game's mechanics and controls before tackling some of the more difficult aspects of the game that are presented in Free Trade mode.
Town Alehouse
The alehouse is a great place to get information and hear rumors about the current happenings in town. Buying a round of drinks for everyone inside the alehouse upon your visit might also help to uncover some hints and secrets, depending on the town you're in.
Using the Moneylender
If you are in desperate need of in-game cash and your town has a moneylender, you can take out a loan. This will have to be paid back with an interest rate of 10 percent per month, however, so remember to repay your moneylender in a timely manner.
Illegal Contraband
Certain towns have their own contraband laws that declare which items are legal and which are not. You can take advantage of this by selling these banned items within the town, as patrons will pay top dollar for contraband.
Banking System
Always use the in-game banking system to store your money. Banks will never be robbed, and you'll have access to your funds from any bank and any town in the game. Furthermore, deposited funds accrue interest of 10 percent each year, so you'll actually be making money by maintaining a balance.
Special Items
Special items are usually gained by completed tasks and missions throughout the game, but some will be given to you because of your character's abilities. You can view your special items at any time during game play by pressing the "Items" button. Remember, however, that not all special items have desirable effects.
Buying Ammunition
Avoid buying tiki bombs at all costs. Thirty fire pots or chain ammo can be purchased for the price of only one tiki bomb, and the former is more than enough firepower to take down a ship. You'll also save a fortune on ammunition costs, money which can be better spent elsewhere.
