Wood Cheats for Age of Empires 3

Although "Age of Empires 3" moves from the Dark Ages into colonial times, three things have not changed: you will still be gathering wood, food and coin. While sources of coin and food are fairly stable, your settlers will often be constantly moving in search of more trees to chop down in order to gather wood, and thus they require more supervision. Fortunately, there are a number of cheats you can use to simplify the process of gathering wood.

Wood Cheat
- Press the "Enter" key during gameplay and type in the cheat code "<censored>" to instantly give yourself 10,000 wood. Note that "<censored>", with the "<" and ">" symbols, is the actual cheat code--it has not been censored. You can enter this cheat code as many times as you like, ensuring that you will never run out of wood.
Gather Rate Cheat
- Press the "Enter" key during gameplay and type in the cheat code "Speed always wins" to increase your gather and build rates by 100 percent. You may prefer this cheat code if you still want to have your settlers gather wood the old-fashioned way but don't want to wait around while it takes them an eternity to gather the lumber from one tree. Be careful when using this cheat, however. Unlike the wood cheat, this cheat benefits your enemies, too.
  
  In addition to allowing you to gather lumber more quickly, this code increases the rates at which you gather other resources, including coin and food, and allows you to construct even the largest structures in seconds.
Advanced Wood Cheat
- This final cheat is not a traditional cheat code. Instead, you will have to navigate to the "Data" directory of your game folder and make a backup copy of the file named "proto.xml". Next, open the file with a text editor, such as Notepad or WordPad, and use the find function to locate the entries named "CrateofWood" and "CrateofWoodLarge". Along with these entries there should be a parameter labeled "InitialResourceCount," which will probably be followed by the number "100."
  
  These entries control the amount of wood you start with during skirmish and campaign battles. You can set these values as low or as high as you like, even up to "99999" for instance. If, however, you're irritated that it still takes too long for your settlers to gather wood from the crates, you can look up the entry "Settler" and then the parameter "GatherCrate". Set the value of this parameter to "99999" and your settlers can instantly collect enough wood to last throughout an entire battle. Of course, so can your enemies, who also receive the benefits of this cheat.
