PC Cheats for Star Wars: Empire at War

Star Wars: Empire at War is a critically acclaimed strategy game set within the Star Wars universe. Players get to choose whether to side with the Empire or the Rebellion in all-out space combat, engaging in missions and eventually taking charge of more than 40 planets. This list of cheats, tricks and codes will give you access to many of Empire at War̵7;s secrets and hidden features.
  1. Cheats

    • To activate the cheat mode, while in the game, press the \"~\" button. This displays the console window. Type any of the following codes in the console and press \"Enter\" to spawn a selection of special characters:

      To spawn Boba Fett: \"CHEAT_Empire_Spawn_Fett\"
      To spawn Colonel Veers: \"CHEAT_Empire_Spawn_Veers\"
      To spawn Darth Vader: \"CHEAT_Empire_Spawn_Vader\"
      To spawn The Emperor: \"CHEAT_Empire_Spawn_Emperor\"

Once spawned, these characters can be used in battles and missions.

    Edits

    • If you would like to create ships with customized or personalized names, go into the directory where the game files are installed. Normally this will be at \"\\lucasarts\\star wars empire at war\\gamedata\\data.\"

There you will see numerous .txt files which can be opened and edited by Notepad or any other text editor. Ships that can be built within the game will have corresponding data files, such as \"acclamator_assault_ship.txt.\" If you open this file, it will display a list of names that are automatically assigned to vessels. You can edit or add any desired name on the list. Once finished, save the file and play the game. The custom names will show up as the ships are created.

You may want to save copies of the original .txt files in a safe location in case you ever want to restore the default game data.

    Hints

    • If you would rather not modify the game or spawn special units to tip the balance of a battle in your favor, here are a couple of special tactical \"cheats\" that will give you a major advantage without breaking or circumventing any official rules.

In a mission, conquer or capture all planets except for the one specified in the objectives. Then, fortify the planets surrounding your mission planet to safeguard it from all attacks. Once that's done, you can switch the game speed to fast-forward. Sit back and let the income from your conquered/captured planets build up until you have as much as you wish. Then, resume normal speed and finish the mission.

Also, if playing as the Rebellion, form a fleet composed only of 3CP0 and R2D2. Pick a planet with no ground structures and land the fleet there. The planet will be captured instantly.
