Hidden Maps
To find the game's hidden maps, make sure your ship is a Bigboy, Vengeance or Goliath, and then go to the map labeled "x-4." There, you will find a what's called a "jumpgate." Take your character through the first jumpgate, and you will see another center jumpgate. This is a portal that will lead you to a hidden map. Be careful; jumpgates do not offer protection and will leave your character vulnerable to attacks.
Optimize Your Drone
When just starting out in the game, there are certain settings that will optimize the strength of your drone character and set you up to do well. When beginning, go to the in-game settings and uncheck the following: show player names, show all lasers, show company icon, show explosions, show transparent background, show chat, show music, show drones. By hiding these effects, your drone will be able to operate more to your advantage.
Vengeance Ship
The best way to improve as a player quickly is to buy the Vengeance ship first; it's one way to get the most bang for your buck. You don't have much money when just starting out, and the Vengeance is a high class of ship for a relatively low cost. Then use the ship to focus on only completing the higher paying tasks to start. This will give you the most money and levels quickly, which will allow you to join a clan as soon as possible. By focusing on earning money and levels, your character will have a strong base to work from throughout the rest of the game.
