Cheats for BioShock 2 on Steam

"BioShock 2" is a first person shooter where players take on the role of the franchise's mascot, the towering Big Daddy. Available on multiple platforms, "Bioshock 2" can be purchased for the PC through Valve's digital distribution system, Steam. On the PC, players have an option that console players do not: Editing the game to allow cheating. Using cheat codes can allow the player to change the game to give them a decided advantage over AI-controlled opponents.
  1. Enabling Cheats

    • Navigate to your "Bioshock 2" game folder and open it. Inside will be a file labeled "User.ini." Open "User.ini" in Notepad, and scroll to the bottom. To enable a cheat code, you will need to bind the code to a key on your keyboard. For example, if you want the game to restore your health every time you press the "F10" key. To do that, on the last line of "User.ini" type "F10=givehealth" with the quotation marks. Save the file. The next time you play, every time you press F10 the game will restore your health. You can substitute any key on the keyboard for F10, and replace "givehealth" with any of the codes listed in the sections below.

    God Mode

    • God mode is one of the classic codes in first person shooters. When active, no matter how many times your player character is shot, blown up, or struck, he will receive no damage. This code all but ensures victory, but can take the fun out of the game for all but the most novice players. Type the code "god" in the User.ini file and bind it to the key of your choice.

    Kill All Enemies

    • "Bioshock 2," unlike most contemporary games, is split into distinct levels from which you cannot backtrack. On every level there is a set number of enemies placed in static locations until triggered by your character's proximity or by predefined game events. By activating the "Kill All Enemies" code, every single enemy in your current level will die instantly, leaving you with nothing to do but solve that level's puzzle and collect the loot. Type the code "killpawns" in the User.ini file and bind it to the key of your choice.

    Suicide

    • This code instantly kills your player character. It has no real function outside of gameplay testing. Type the code "suicide" in the User.ini file and bind it to the key of your choice.

    Get $500

    • In Rapture, the underwater city in which gameplay takes place, players are constantly surrounded by vending machines that sell weapons, ammo, and weapon upgrades. These cost money that can be collected by looting abandoned rooms, the corpses of your enemies, or using this cheat code that will award you with $500 every time it's activated. Type the code "igbigbucks" in the User.ini file and bind it to the key of your choice.

    Adam

    • Adam is the currency used in-game to buy plasmids, the underwater slugs that grant human beings super powers. The code is "GiveItem<0-999>ShockGame.Adam." You will need to replace the <0-999> with the amount of Adam you wish the game to award you every time you activate the cheat code. For example, if you want 999 Adam awarded every time you press the F6 key, you would type "F6=GiveItem<999>ShockGame.Adam" on the last line in the User.ini file.

    Eve

    • Eve is the ammunition your character's plasmids run off of. Every time you throw a lightning bolt, or unleash a horde of bees on your opponents, it consumes some of your Eve. Eve is generally looted from corpses or stolen from abandoned homes and businesses, but when the "givebioammo" code is activated, your Eve will be filled completely. Type the code "givebioammo" in the User.ini file and bind it to the key of your choice.

    Walk Through Walls

    • By activating the "ghost" code, the player character can walk through walls. Type the code "ghost" in the User.ini file and bind it to the key of your choice.
