First Puzzle Solution
To help to get started and to see what kind of puzzles you will be up against here is how to get into the gate at the beginning of the game. To the right of the gate is a sparkly bush, meaning there is a hidden object game waiting here. Select the bush and find the wrench sticking out of the mailbox. Use the wrench to take the screws off of the intercom panel and re-attach the wires in the following fashion. The first wire to the plug on the second column and the second row, the second to the plug on the fourth column on the first row, the third to the plug on the first column on the third row, and lastly the fourth wire to the plug on the second column on the first row. Once all the wires are attached, click the red button and a key will come out. Take the key to the gate and place on the lock and the gate will open.
Jewel Hearts
You will need 10 Jeweled Hearts at the end of the game. The easiest way to do this is to go back to the front gate and work your way forward. They are located beside the door next to Victor's cottage, on Emma's statue, beauty salon privacy screen, beauty salon bedroom, toy cabinet, school house, gingerbread house, Victor's cottage desk, front door of manor and in the bushes at the gate in the beginning of the game.

When you get to the phone you can dial 347-1268 or 244-3474. Dialing either of these will access hidden phone messages in the game.
