How to Do Throwing Tricks in Mario Kart for N64

In Mario Kart for Nintendo 64, you play as the familiar Super Mario characters and race opponents on a drag-racing track, while avoiding obstacles and attacks from other players. The object of the game is to achieve the highest score and fastest track times, while collecting prizes that are scattered on the track. Among these prizes are weapons such as banana peels that you can drop on the roadway, and turtle shells you can throw at other drivers. This "cheat" will allow you to throw banana peels in front of you, and turtle shells behind you, giving you more attack options.

Instructions

Throw Bananas Forward
- 1
  Collect a banana peels prize box by driving your car through the rainbow colored boxes on the track.

  Hold down "Z" once you have obtained banana peels. Push "Up" on the joystick.

  Release "Z" while still holding the joystick "Up."

  Watch as the banana peels shoot in front of you.
Shoot Shells Behind You
- 5
  Get a single shell prize by driving through the rainbow prize boxes until you find one.

  Hold down "Z" once you have a shell in your inventory. Press the joystick "Down."
- 7
  Release the "Z" button while holding the joystick.
- 8
  Watch as your shell shoots backward and hits your opponents.
