Tansmuting Rare Items
The most common way of getting rare items is by drops from enemies and chests. You can increase your chance of these drops by equipping items with the highest magic-finding stats available to you. With a 100 percent increase to your magic-finding chances, you will have twice as much a better chance of finding a magic item. There is no limit to how high your magic-finding percentage can reach. However, this does not ensure you will find items that are useful to you. To get a new rare item, place the item, one perfect skull and one Stone of Jordan in the Horadric Cube and transmute. The result will be a new item of the same quality and type.
Ethereal Items
Ethereal items are typically not very useful because of their durability. However, there are a few things you can do about this. The first is to equip hirelings with Ethereal items because they never have to repair. If you want the item for yourself, add a socket to the Ethereal item, place it in the Horadric Cube with a Zod rune and transmute it to make it indestructible.
The Armor of Hell Cheat
The Armor of Hell has a defense rating of 10,000 and adds a 300 percent chance to find magical items. This makes it one of the most powerful suits of armor in the game. Even if the armor is not your desire, the increased chance to find magical items will make your quest for other unique items much easier. To do this cheat, press "Enter" to open the chat box, type "666strongcha666" and press "Enter" again. Save the game and log out. Log back in to the same character and combine six jade stones, six rare armors, six normal non-throwing weapons and one perfect gem in the Horadric Cube. You will have a 79 percent chance of producing the Armor of Hell. Some players report that a perfect diamond works better than other gems.
The Hellfire Torch
Once you are in level 90, create a private hell game and defeat the countess, the summoner and Nihlathak. You will need to obtain the keys of hate, terror and destruction form these bosses. Each has a one in 15 chance of dropping a key. If they do not drop the keys, create a new game and start over. Once you have all three keys, transmute them to form a portal to one of the three super bosses, Duriel, Izual or Lilith. Repeat the process until you have killed each of these bosses and obtained the three artifacts: Mephisto's brain, Baal's eye and Diablo's horn. Transmute the three artifacts to form the super portal to Tristram. In this level, you will fight super Mephisto, Diablo and Baal. Once you have killed all of them, you will find the Hellfire Torch.
