Moon Tycoon Games

If you've ever dreamed of colonizing the moon, "Moon Tycoon" is the game for you. It is a PC game made by Anarchy Enterprises and Unique Entertainment that was released in 2001. The game was advertised as the first 3-D simulator game ever created, and game play involved building a city on the moon and avoiding disasters, such as meteor showers and "moonquakes." When disaster strikes, it's up to you to repair your city.
  1. Choosing a Campaign

    • When you begin playing "Moon Tycoon," you can choose from three campaigns, or story lines, for your game. The first campaign is that Earth is having a global energy crisis and is losing power. An ore found on the moon has enough energy to power Earth and it's your job to mine the ore to save Earth. The next campaign begins when the energy crisis has been solved. As other countries learn about the usefulness of the moon, they battle to control it. The last campaign involves colonizing an asteroid belt past Mars.

    Building Your City

    • When building your city on the moon, you must make the city safe, aesthetically pleasing and functional for citizens. To do this, you must choose power plants, oxygen tanks, ways to get water, emergency and hospital facilities and housing for citizens. Each building has benefits and risks and is priced differently. A cheaper facility may hold a higher risk of disaster, so it is up to you to choose wisely.

    Disasters

    • Even if you choose the safest and most expensive buildings for your lunar city, you can still experience challenges. Sixteen randomly generated disasters can hit your city at any time -- including moonquakes, oxygen tank explosions, terrorist attacks and ion storms -- which can destroy buildings and cause your citizens to panic. These disasters can also be triggered by poor decisions you make throughout the campaigns or by buying cheap facilities. Some disasters may occur and not cause any damage.

Buy Moon Tycoon or Play the Demo

    • If you want to buy "Moon Tycoon," visit the official website by Anarchy Enterprises (see Resources). You can order the game online from the company. If you would like to try the game out before you buy it, a demo is available to download on the Moon Tycoon official website. Because the game came out in 2001, you may have trouble finding it in retail outlets.
