Things You'll Need
Instructions
Find or Draw the Banner Image. This is a relatively simple process for anyone with artistic skill. The image that will be used on the banner is largely a matter of taste and personal preferences. Save the Dawn of War custom banner in a .tga format (either 24 bit or 32 bit color) and close the paint program.
Edit the Picture in an Image Manipulation Program. For most users, this will be Photoshop or the Gnu Image Manipulation project. The important part thing is to edit the image so that the parts of the image that are not supposed to be seen are transparent. The Photsohop and the Gimp both use a black and white checkered background to indicate the bottom layer.
Resize the Image. Dawn of War Banners must be 32 x 96 pixels in length and save in the .tga format. Both the GIMP and Photoshop make image resizing tools available to users. Be careful not to use the cropping tool. The image will automatically shrink or expand to the appropriate size.
Place the Banner in the Game's Main Directory. This can be accomplished through a simple cut and paste command, or for the user who long for the days of MS-DOS, by issuing the copy command in a DOS prompt window.
Start the Game and Choose Your New Banner. The banners and badges available for player will be shown in the game's customization options. Select the file that you created as a new banner for your units. Have your Dawn of War units take the custom banner proudly out onto the field of battle.
