How to Improve Counter Strike Source Skills

The skill used in Counter Strike: Source is not much different than its original Counter Strike predecessor. If you are experience in the first game, you won't have much of a problem. If Source is your first crack at first-person shooter games, adjusting and developing your skill will take time, practice and a few tips.

Instructions

    • 1

Aim at the chest or higher. Hitting the head always does the most damage, but most weapons won't score an instant kill there. Try a three-round burst--the third shot should hit the head and finish him.

    • 2

Get the right weapon depending on what character you're playing. For counter-terrorists, the M4A1 or the AUG is good, For terrorists, try the AK-47, Kreig or Galil.

    • 3

Move around frequently when you're in open space, especially if someone has you in point blank range. Moving in small circles around an enemy will make you harder to hit.

    • 4

Avoid crouching unless absolutely needed. It slows you down, and only the AK-47 gets better range from it. Only crouch if you hide behind or under something, or if you're jumping around corners.

    • 5

Throw flash bangs every once in a while. Buy two of then at the start of each round to make sure you have them. Shout to your teammates before throwing one so they can get out of the way.

    • 6

Use smoke grenades in place of flash bangs once in a while. You can fake someone into backing off, thinking it's a flash. Try it if you have no flashes or need to preserve one.

    • 7

Find where the enemy often goes to, then pick a place where you can take cover and surprise them. For example, if they run to a building, stay put near the door.
