Sims 3 Cheats for Baby Gender & Watermelon

There are no foolproof ways to ensure that your Sim has a baby of the gender you want in "The Sims 3." The best you can do is increase the percentages for the preferred gender. This is also true of multiple births. To have a baby in "The Sims 3," your Sims must have a good relationship and must actively be trying to have a baby via the "Try for Baby" command.
  1. Eating Fruit

    • The base percentage for baby gender is 50 percent male and female. Eating fruit during early pregnancy can tip these percentages toward male or female babies. Apples encourage male births, while watermelons encourage female births. Each piece of fruit eaten increases the odds one way or the other by 5 percent, with a cap on how much you can alter these percentages at 15 percent. The most you can do to influence baby gender, then, is to have your Sim eat three apples or watermelons, giving you the 15 percent increase for your preferred gender.

    Acquiring Fruit

    • Apples and watermelons can be purchased at the grocery store. Sims can also grow their own fruits and vegetables, either from seeds or by planting whole fruits (from the grocery store) in their gardens. The quality of the fruit does not matter for influencing baby gender, although higher-quality fruits and vegetables do make better meals. In older versions of the game, Sims could also eat meals made with the desired fruit to influence baby gender. In patched versions of the game, this is no longer true.

    Multiples

    • There are three ways to increase the likelihood of having multiple births (twins or triplets). The first is to take the "Fertility Treatment" lifetime achievement for either the male or female partner. If both partners have the "Fertility Treatment" achievement, the odds increase even more. Pregnant female sims can listen to Kids music on a stereo. They can also watch KidzTube TV programming. Both of these activities, if done while the female Sim is pregnant, will increase the likelihood of multiple births.

    Other Tips

    • For the best chance of getting to choose the Sim's baby's traits, make sure that the pregnant sim is happy and healthy. Keep her needs fulfilled (hunger and fun particularly). Reading baby books, like "Baby Incoming" will also improve your Sim's pregnancy. Baby books are available at the bookstore and at the library. Delivering your Sim's baby at the hospital, instead of at home, will also keep the sims' needs meters from decreasing while giving birth.
