The opening cut scene of "Grand Theft Auto: III" shows the main character, Claude, escaping from police custody. The Colombian Cartel attacks the police convoy transporting Claude. During the attack, the Callahan Bridge sustains serious damage. For a large portion of the game, this bridge remains under construction. As a result, players cannot access the second island in the game, Staunton Island. The Callahan Bridge unlocks during the storyline of the "Driving Mr. Leone" mission.
