Slow Down the Ball
To slow down the ball in any level, edit the "Levels.xml" file in the "Levels\Folder" directory of your "Zuma Deluxe" folder. Back up the file by copying, but not moving, it to a different directory in Windows Explorer. Open the file in a text editor, such as Notepad, which comes preinstalled on Windows Vista. Press "Control + F" and write "Settings id="lvl11" speed="0.5" into the search dialog. "lvl11" means level 1-1. Find any level you wish to change and set the speed to "0.2"
Change Level
Changing the level also involves changing the XML file and is a bit more involved. Always back up an XML file before you tamper with it. With the "Levels.xml" file open in Notepad, press "Control + F" to search for the text "stage1 = "spiral." Now you will changNe the name "spiral" to the name of another level. To find out the names of other levels, open the "cached_thumbnails" folder in the same directory and switch to film strip view in Windows Explorer. A thumbnail will appear beside the name of each level. Copy the name of the level of your choice in quotes after "stage1=" in "Levels.XML."
Easter Eggs
Easter Eggs are hidden features that a player might stumble upon accidentally. In "Zuma Deluxe," you can make a UFO fly across your screen by moving your cursor, in sequence, over these menu items: Adventure, Gauntlet, Options, More Games and Quit. If you click on the frog icon on the left side of your screen, his eyes will follow your cursor until you click on it again.
Final Level Tip
Level 13-1, the final level of the game, is set in front of a space-themed backdrop. Stars move quickly toward your screen, sapping your attention from the game. Press the "S" key at any time to make them stop.
