How to Forge the Doomstaff in The Sims Medieval

Creating the Doomstaff in "The Sims Medieval" is done by using the wizard and blacksmith Sims. Creating one is not a requirement of any available quests, but it may take you several quests to obtain all the ingredients for a Doomstaff. The first steps are done using the wizard Sim and can be done at any level. The last steps require a Level 8 blacksmith Sim. Once crafted, it gives a Level 10 power boost to the wizard Sim, but -- according to its description -- using it may "catch the Reaper's eye," since the staff is pure evil.

Instructions

  1. Steps the Wizard Sim Must Complete

    • 1

Obtain the arcane edge during a quest using the wizard Sim. Arcane edge is given during a random event when the wizard Sim is strolling through the forest. Make sure the wizard Sim has a full focus bar and look for an event mentioning a man standing on a bridge. Select FIGHT THE GUARD. If you win the fight, you will get arcane edge. Since this is a very rare event, expect to do a lot of strolling in the forest before you finally get it.

    • 2

Create two wizard staff cores. Each wizard staff core requires one azurite, two mana stones and one nightshade. Azurite is a common mineral that can be found near the bridge over the stream, in front of the tavern, by the edge of the forest and several other places. Mana stones are found behind the rock near the lighthouse, in the woods by the wizard Sim's tower, next to the Watcher Pavillion and to the left of the Jacoban Cathedral. Nightshade grows under trees and can be found in several places including in the wooded area behind the clinic and near the cemetery.

    • 3

Learn the Spirit Thief spell at the Arcane Tome. Cast the spell on villagers until you have seven soul fragments. You can cast the spell on the same Sim more than once.

    • 4

Give the arcane edge, two wizard staff cores and seven soul fragments to the blacksmith Sim. To transfer items between Sims, pause the game. Select the wizard Sim and open up her inventory, and then find the blacksmith Sim. Select an item from the wizard Sim's inventory and drag it over to the blacksmith Sim. When the blacksmith Sim lights up slightly, release the item. You do not need to play with the blacksmith Sim to do this. The items will be in his inventory the next time you play a quest using him.

Steps the Blacksmith Sim Must Complete

    • 5

Play quests using the blacksmith Sim as the hero. He needs to be at Level 8 before he can craft the Doomstaff.

    • 6

Collect four adamantles and two mana stones by mining them. Adamantle is found to the left of the castle's entrance, by the wall behind the merchant's house and training yard and between the training yard and the cemetery.

    • 7

Craft a higher level hammer, if you have not done so already. The Watcher's Hammer is a good choice and requires three adamantles, three electrums and four mithrals to construct.

    • 8

Forge the Doomstaff. Remember that forging is not automatic, even though the blacksmith Sim will do so without prompting. The quality will be much better if you move the blacksmith Sim between the fire and the anvil so the heat bar level stays within the orange level and doesn't hit the top or bottom of the bar.

    • 9

Transfer the Doomstaff from the blacksmith Sim's inventory to the wizard Sim's by dragging and dropping it.
