Survey Each Area
Each room and passage way could potentially contain vital clues towards piecing together the information needed to crack the case. Take note of every object in the room, from a newspaper on a table to a framed photograph, and what information it provides. A thorough approach to your detective work is an important factor in this game as certain locations are inaccessible later on in the game regardless of whether you have collected all the potential information.
Get the Answers You Need
During your investigation you come across several characters, each of whom carries important information. In such scenarios, you are provided with a list of questions or subject topics to discuss with each individual. Some will require a full conversation, while others will need to be asked only one question to gather the information you need to continue. For example, your third encounter with Katrina will require you to ask only about her son's metal detector, whereas your first and second encounters with Stina in the Kiosk requires full-length conversations. The information provided by each individual leads to a potential clue within the room or house that you have to find.
Save Frequently
Although there are no dead ends and no way of being killed in the game, save the game frequently during your story. Because of the magnitude of possible locations and areas you can move into within the game map, it is possible to make a wrong move that delays your progress.
Examine and Manipulate the Evidence
Every obtained item goes into your inventory, either for manipulation (for example, keys to open a door) or for a collection of evidence. With each new item picked up, use the magnifying glass to examine the item; this produces an enlarged image plus a full description of the item. Manipulation and viewing items are vital toward completing the game.
Solve the Puzzles
During the game you come across a series of puzzles that must be completed to unlock an important item. The puzzles range in difficulty but are not too difficult to complete. To complete a puzzle automatically, click on the "Bypass" button in the top right-hand corner of your screen; this provides an instant solution. If you complete the game by solving every puzzle by yourself, you are awarded five stars. You receive no stars if the "Bypass" option is used for any puzzle in the game. It is important to note particular clues given out by each puzzle. For example, the very first puzzle in "The Museum of Design" produces a random sequence of four colored shapes that appear beneath a slot. This sequence is the solution for the next puzzle in "Solvig Liedberg's House."
