Virtual Villagers 3 Secrets and Hints

Each installment of the Virtual Villagers game challenges players with numerous puzzles. These puzzles are the key to your village's survival. In order to solve the puzzles, you must learn how to manage your villagers. Time is crucial, so use these tips to get off to a good start-it could make the difference between life or death for your villagers.
  1. Lifespan of Your Villagers

    • Your villagers will undergo several changes throughout the game. When two villagers mate, the woman will begin nursing a baby. If your game is set to "normal" time, she will nurse for 120 minutes. During this time, she cannot work, so delay tribe expansion until after you meet their basic needs. Once the child stops nursing, he will be two years old. From ages two to thirteen, children cannot work, but they can collect mushrooms and other items around the island. At age fourteen, you can begin training your child villager in a trade.

    Training Your Villagers

    • Your villagers can gain knowledge in one of five areas: farming, building, research healing and parenting. Farmers gain experience by collecting any type of food. Builders must construct huts and repair monuments around the island. Place villagers in the research lab to gain research training. When a villager is sick, simply drop a "healer" on him. The sick villager will be cured, and the healer will gain experience. Train parents by consistently mating your villagers and telling stories to the village's children.

    Movement Around the Island

    • During the game you will have to search the island for collectibles. These collectibles unlock events and puzzle solutions. To quickly move from place to place around the island, use one of two methods. You can open the island map by pressing the "m" key on your keyboard. Simply click anywhere on the map to immediately transport to the new location. You can also quickly travel across the island by using your number keypad. For example, the "1" key will transport you to the lower left-hand side of the map.

    Getting Started

    • Some players may find the hardest part of Virtual Villagers 3 is getting started. Your main goal at the start of the game is to find food and start a fire. You need to collect wood and dry grass and place them in the fire pit. To start the fire, drop a villager onto the prepared wood and grass. Gather food by placing a villager underneath the banana tree while it is raining. Your villager will collect a seed and plant it. The seed will then grow into an orchard.
