How to Get Rare Naruto Mugen Characters

Locate the character or "Naruto Mugen" resource where the desired character can be found. There are a number of sites available that have rare characters available for download (see Resources).

Download the ZIP or RAR file for the character.

Click on the downloaded ZIP or RAR file; the appropriate extract tool will open. Extract the files.

Open the resulting folder, which is most likely named for the character, and locate the DEF file.

Right-click on the name of the DEF file and select "Copy." Copy only the name of the file and not the file extension (".def").

Go back to the character file folder. Rename the entire folder by pasting the DEF file name in its place.

Open the "Naruto Mugen" game folder and go to the characters folder, which is most likely named "chars."

Click and drag the downloaded character folder into the game characters ("chars") folder. Exit the "chars" folder.

Enter the "data" folder within the "Naruto Mugen" game folder.

Click on the file named "select.def." The file opens in Notepad.

Scroll down the page until a line that reads "Insert your characters below."

Place the downloaded character's name on a new line below the one that reads "kfm."

"Paste" the copied character name on the new line and then place a comma and space followed by the folder in which the character's DEF file is found. The result should look like this:

(character name), chars/(character name)/(character name).def

Save the file and exit Notepad. The character is listed in the game's character select screen.
